Each Oceanic Threads piece begins with a thread.

A simple strand that winds its way through bead after bead, connecting individual elements into something beautiful and strong.

For us, that thread represents more than craftsmanship.

It represents community and connection.

Our story starts along the shores of Cape Town, where the rhythm of the ocean shapes life. Founded by surfers who spend their days chasing swells and watching the ebb and flow of the Atlantic, Oceanic Threads was born from a deep connection to the sea, nature, and the communities that call this extraordinary corner of Africa home.

The ocean reminds us daily that everything is connected. Waves travel across vast distances. Currents link distant shores. People, cultures, and traditions meet where land and sea come together. 

Inspired by this connection, we work with talented African bead artisans who skillfully handcraft every piece bead by bead, thread by thread. Each bead is an individual which carries its own color, character, and story. Alone, it is beautiful. 

Together, or “threaded”  they have purpose and become something greater. 

The vibrant colors, patterns, and textures draw inspiration from the landscapes that surround us: the deep blues of the ocean, the golden sands of the coast, the rich earth tones of Africa, and the wild beauty of nature that stretches from mountain to sea.
